The short sci-fi film Reclamation was honored in the Fall 2018 Depth of Field International Film Festival (DOIFF) with “Best of Show,” the top award in the “Loose Shorts” category. Loose shorts can be in any genre with a runtime of 15-59 minutes.
“Reclamation” was written and executive produced by Tom Loveman, directed and produced by Alison Kohlhardt, and produced by Rachanee Lumayno.
Unlike most film festivals, where you compete directly against the other films in your category, each film submitted to DOFIFF is evaluated upon submission by the judges and rated on an individual basis. Through this system, films are recognized for their own individual merits. Best of Show honors are granted to the top scoring entry/entries in each category.
Winners in the Best of Show and Outstanding Excellence award levels receive guaranteed distributor review. For short films, Adler & Associates (www.adlerandassociatesentertainment.com), with offices in located in West Hollywood and Burbank, is the distributor. According to their website, they are “globally known as a true indie entertainment services company, with an emphasis on production, acquisitions and distribution around the world.”
DOFIFF is also an IMDB qualifying event, meaning Reclamation will be recognized on the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) website as an official winner. A complete list of the awards is available at dofiff.com/Pages/Winners_Fall_2018.html.
