Synesthesia

About The Film

What happens when we depend on our digital devices too much?

Executive Producer and Writer Tom Loveman, a self proclaimed smartphone addict, wanted to delve into that question. He was so attached to his phone that he would get “phantom rings” in his thigh were his phone would normally be, even when it wasn’t.

Take that idea deeper and you have “Synesthesia.”

Synesthesia, in medical terms is, in general, a neurological phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. This could be smelling colors or hearing numbers, but, in relation to the film, it’s the sensations of a missing limb that amputees feel, a.k.a. “phantom limb syndrome.”

So, how about you? Ever sense something that wasn’t there?
