50 Official Selections!

50th Official Selection

Reclamation earns its 50th Official Selection from the Watchdog Film Festival in Brisbane, Australia where it will make its Australian premiere.

Not to be over-shadowed, leading up to the 50th was the 2019 Icon Film Festival in Tel Aviv, Israel and the Juggernaut Film Festival in Chicago, IL.

The Watchdog Film Festival marks the first film festival for Reclamation in director Alison Kohlhardt’s home country. Alison, now a Los Angeles resident, began her acting and directing career in Sydney.

The festival’s mission is “awarding filmmakers who monitor society and expose matters of social and public significance.” It will take place in the Fall of 2019.

Reclamation is a cautionary tale of corporate power and how it can devalue or commoditize humanity,” says writer/executive producer Tom Loveman. “I’m honored that the Watchdog Film Festival felt that our story was important enough, and entertaining I hope, to be included in this year’s festival.”

The lead-up festivals to big “five-oh,” are equally impressive.

The Icon Festival for Science Fiction, Fantasy and Role-Playing is one of the largest and longest running festivals of its kind on Israel, in its 23rd year. The annual festival in Tel Aviv, Israel takes place October 15-17th this year and consists of “more than 400 events, including lectures, RPG sessions, panel discussions, movies, cosplay contests, LARPs, professional workshops, board games, comical and musical shows, as well as comics and anime events, providing a huge celebration for the science fiction and fantasy lovers and even much broader audiences.”

Chicago’s Juggernaut Film Festival is in its 7th year, running September 2nd through 8th, is a “weeklong event celebrating Science Fiction and Fantasy films and filmmakers from around the world.” It’s presented by Chicago’s Otherworld Theatre Company, whose mission is to further explore and promote the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre.  The theater is located just a few blocks north of Chicago’s historic Wrigley Field.

“Being part of the Juggernaut Film Festival in Chicago is especially exciting for me since I’ve called Chicago home for a couple of years,” recounts Loveman. “From my rented studio in Lincoln Park, I could see Wrigley Field lit up at night. I hope I can get back to Chicago for the festival and revisit my old neighborhood.”

Reclamation is finishing its festival run this fall and will be available on one or more streaming platforms for the world to experience shortly there after.
